Is that amount of strength necessary for an intake? EFI intake are 'plastic' I could see it on heads or cranks . Just wondering

nope....And in my opinion its not even cheap insurance on a stock motor. No need for it unless you plan on spinning it 6 grand a 1/4 mile at a time :thumbs2:

GRRRRR, the only stud I re-used was the one where the manuel choke bracket is mounted. I got to the 3rd torque setting and broke it off. @#%^$#@%$@#
Off to NAPA to get another one. and start all over again. IO should have done that anyway. I was right there. Bob <<<===estupido

I just called the local ford garage to see if they had one. The parts guy I spoke to said he had a 302 block fresh from machining I can have. N/C
My first REAL score. The stud I need is $6.40. I'm ofr to NAPA

And if you're running an aluminum manifold you should run grade 5 fasteners. The torque required to stretch a grade 8 is more than what intake manufacturers recommend.

Depends on the motor. 302s 351sw etc I agree 100 percent.

Take a 4.6L with aluminum heads/block etc.....I would go expensive studs even on a basic rebuild. Less stress on threads that are much easier to strip/pullout

I guess I would apply that on any aluminum head bolting on an aluminum intake.....

Nothing sucks more when you are the mechanic that has to fix something like this:D

John how steep of a set of gears do you have to do the 1/4 mile with only 6000 crank revolutions:rofl2::drive::character0182:

    Just messing with ya!!!!:evilsmile:mischeif:;):Handshake

but the wording struck me with an odd chord!!!!

Ok maybe I'm just stupid (or work is making my brain mush today), but if RPM means revolutions per MINUTE, then wouldn't it take a 60 second quarter mile time to use up 6000 crank revolutions?

only if your motor turns 6000 times to get you to the end of the track.

I knew I was forgetting something. Distance, shmistance! :D The word 'only' is what threw me off. I'm not even getting started on the meaning of steep/short/high/low. gear ratio, final drive ratio, tire size... I don't feel like doing math today. :D
