being that i dont have to have the maverick inspected im thinking about not even bothering with putting mufflers on my car. what i want to do is have an x-pipe put in my exhaust system(i herd it mellows the exhaust note some) when i have it run an put those pace setter resonator tips on the ends. with all the loud trucks in my area i should be able to get away with it :D, as long as i keep my foot out of it in town:D

Be interesting to see how it sounds. We did straight pipes all the way out the back on a friends Chevelle in high school. No h or x pipe and no resonators, it sounded terrible.

i did that with an f150 once, 302, It sounded like a truck that had been badly neglected. didn't sound cool to my ears but then again, we each have our own personal tastes. try it and figure out if you like it. no mufflers are very cheap!:tiphat:

I don't have any on my car but my turbo does a good job at muffling the noise.

Id at least put a couple of dynomax bullets on it

I'm not running any....I have an X pipe and the pipes exiting in front of the rear tires....I bought a set of small bullets and stuck them on the end of the pipes to see what it would sound like and in 1 second i thought it sounded like crap so i put them back in the box and sold them on Ebay.....Now, it is loud but seeing as it isn't a daily driver i don't care......If you want to here music to your ears, go listen to a good running small block in a Shelby R-Model or Cobra at a vintage race...Having a cam and some compression contributes to it...Nothing like it....A pure stocker with straight pipes isn't as good

My opinion is they sound a lot better than the 5.0 small blocks because of the firing order

I bought that 2-1/2" X pipe kit from Summit (SUM-642125) and bought a set of 18" "Turbo Tubes" and stuck those on the ends of the pipe with another 6-8" of 2-1/2" that end under both sides of the rearend chunk. They have a raspy sound and sound great running up alongside the guardrail walls on bridges. I bought the tubes off ebay, someone has since started making them under another name. The seller I bought them from was making them on the original equipment he'd bought from the manufacturer when they stopped makin em. I'll have to do a search to find out where and who's making them now. They could make em in any length you wanted, as with glasspacks, the longer they are, the quieter they sound.

WHAT DID YOU SAY????? WHAT??? WHAT??????

    Exactly.

I am sure your town has noise ordinances...so you will in fact be breaking the law.

It's against the law to exceed the speed limit too. And talk on your cell phone while driving (in many states) And lets not forget, not coming to a COMPLETE STOP at a stop sign. Or fail to use signals while turning or changing lanes.:naughty:

When I was young I tollerated loud, I believe there is such a thing as too loud and obnoxious sounding.
Now I prefer things quieter until you get on it then love to hear the engine sounds.
