I`m gettin ready to order some stuff from summit racing and was wondering if a full manual or manual/auto valve body will give me the same firm shift as a shift kit ?

    Thanks

Only if the rest of the trans is in good shape and clutch pack clearance etc, is up to specs. Pressures are greater with these bodies, as well as with shift kits, so they can be hard on older seals and other internals. Be sure to use a cooler if you don't have one already.

a shift kit is desinged as a performance upgrade and because of differnt fluid travels and routes it will improve the shift and make it sift at higher rpms....yes

but like old guy said....your tranny should be in good shape....i got me tranny rebuilt and i had them put a good shift kit in it....and my car shifts awesome and when it changes from 1st to 2nd i can get a little squirly...

Its a rebuilt tranny I got from Robert. I know that a shift kit will give me hard shifts but will a manual or manual/auto valve body do the same ?

Well, manual valve bodies were not designed for silky smooth easy "grandma" shifts. They were designed for race cars.

So, yeah, it should shift every bit as hard, if not harder (depending on the rest of the trans) than a regular ol shift kit.

Be warned though. Some manual valve body manufacturers set their VB's up for very harsh shifts. My powerglide is one of those. You wouldn't want to drive it on the street for sure.

I figured that your stall converter would have "softened" the shifts, I know my 8" converter did. Now my C4 just shifts really fast, so fast you don't even hardly realize it........
