Well today is the first day my car has been out in the rain in the last 2 years since I have owned it. I never bring it out in the rain because of this fear but I was cought off gaurd today and I can't get it back in my garage. So I just went out to check it out and I saw a small wet line in the bottom corner of the windsheld going down the inside of the gasket. As I was out there in the rain I noticed that my gasket it cracked in several places and I can see the edge of the glass at some bigger gaps. Is there anything I can do to stop it like putting some type of sealent on the gasket where the cracks are? Also where should I get a gasket? Should I take it to a glass person and have them pull the window and order me the new gasket or should I find one myself? I just need a quick fix for the future to stop it for now, but I need to know what I can do to fix it the correct way. It is not much if anything I should get worried about. It is like a small damp spot on the edge of inside of the gasket. It is not to the point where it is wet inside the car anywhere on the floor or firewall.

Note: I have not started any restoration to my car yet. I needs to be painted and little odds and ends done other then that it is pretty good.

I have used permatex flowable windshield silicone with good results between the glass and the gasket. Those leaks are much easier to fix than between the gasket and body of the car.

I can't remember the name, but there is a windshield seal tar that most glass shops use on our cars. it never dries, so it will not leak if done properly, does not age.

You can get a new gasket from Autokrafters. I just got me one for the front & rear windows....
