I have read that this is essential for windshield replacement. Is this the stuff that we use? Or do we need the 3M Windo Weld Butly Sealant? 2nd link is 3M stuff. Their is a big difference in price. http://www.technologylk.com/product_view.aspx?&source_ID=shopping&product_ID=8402 http://www.technologylk.com/product_view.aspx?&source_ID=shopping&product_ID=2698
yeah i belive that is what you use to glue a windshield in place call a glass place and ask them what it is.. they will tell you the name they use
any " flowable" sealer will work. permatex makes some, there are 2 step sealers, and ribbon sealers. its just to make sure the sealant doesnt dry out and crack, therefore creating or leading to leaks.
Is this just used in the windshield weatherstrip slot where the glass goes into or just where the rubber attaches to the steel windshield frame - - or both? Same with the rear glass I would guess?
use it anywhere you'd like a pliable non hardening seal. of course over time it will dry out, as we've all seen.
...from what i understand from the ...old glass installers...is it needs to be a heated forced application... the new stuff for late model glass is like a glue...it just ...sticks...the glass to the frame. ...Johns' friend Frank...
I did'nt use any sealant just new weather strips on both the front an rear glass . I would wait on the sealant till after you install the glass to see if you have a leak an your glass guy can inject sealant into weather strip between glass an rubber then . just my 2cts. jay P.S. After installing my glass no leaks and no sealant
...don't they have a song ? "It never rains in California..." maybe thats why it doesn't leak ...frank...
