I have asked for them at some parts houses and they take me down the weatherstrip isles . NOT IT! I have only seen them at AK and ebay myself.
In Atlanta, you can get all your Maverick stuff at Melvin's Classic Ford Parts. They haven't put together a Maverick catalog, yet. I wish they would do a super-duper web site, but he gets all the business he needs (or wants) from north Georgia.
I purchased mine from Autokrafters. But, could get it from Speedy glass. Had Speedy replace my windshield. They asked me if I needed a weatherstip. Nope, already got one from Autokrafters. They are out there. Just have to ask...
i wouldnt buy auto krafters windshield gasket "the front" windshield gasket was made in a foreign country the bottom of gasket while already installed in car, didnt sit flush against the glass, not too sure if anybody else has had this problem??
The problem with windshields is reproduction ones are thinner than factory ones. AK's gaskets are made by DC.
Hey Mike, Gene from G & K Auto Glass in Conway can get the front gasket, and the windshield as well, if needed. I don't know his source, and it's been a while since I priced it from him and don't remember the cost. Gene is a good guy, I used to deal with him back in the day when I did Autobody work. If interested his number is 501-327-5707.
I have purchased three gaskets from AutoKrafters all have been made in Thailand, for Precision Replacement Parts Corp.there part # is WCR D 797, there is also a Ford part number D2DZ-6203110A There is also a hologram sticker on the package with the blue oval which says it's a "Official Licensed Product" The first two I used, both front and rear glass ( using the same glass, because this was for a headlinder install) leaked. I had to take it back to the installer and have sealer put on it, this was more then a month after the job. ( but the car did not see rain) I found out when I washed it. This was after I installed my new carpet. I have a new gasket that will go on my Comet soon ( Gasket is dry and really cracked, and windshield has a bulls eye) so going to replace it. I think the cost is like $250.00 Anyone else used AK gaskets?
Tom that was the gasket that i used that leaked....PRECISION , MADE IN THAILAND...BOTTOM DIDNT FIT RIGHT, what kind of gasket are you gonna use for the comet?
Im not sure whos gasket to try next, therres a mustang parts house on ebay that sells them, maybe ill try that one
Racecar tech makes me comment here. Nothing on a racecar is bolt on. You have to modify it. If the lower portion did not fit, correct it via the available sealants at time of installation. There is an art to correct glass fitment. That is why there are glass shops who do this stuff. It is more than where the rubber meets the metal, it is about how well the rubber meets the surviving metal on these old cars. Dan
