Hey guys. First off, I apologize for asking a question that's probably answered elsewhere here, but my phone is my only internet source and it's not working with the forum's search tool. Anywho, how do you remove the windshield wiper arms on these cars? My '73's passenger side arm has a busted hook and I need to remove it in order to replace it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The entire arm just pulls off the wiper stud protruding from the cowl area. Do not pry on it to get it off. Have seen many cars paint damaged from improperly prying the arm off. Pull on the arm at the drive stud - do not pry no matter how tempting it is.

So no pins/clips/retainers? I feel like a pansy, seeing as I tried the "rip that b***h off" method already without it even budging hahaha

Nothing special to release it. It is a friction fit with a spring retaining clip - the spring clip moves back to release on its own as you pull. If it is stubborn, you can grip it with a padded pliers (I like a nice piece of leather on the jaws). Just pull straight with maybe a little wiggle to help work it loose. Don't pry - pull.

    :)

Here is a picture of the arm off the stud.

If you have a paint can opener.... they come off in a breeze.

There's a trick to it, I don't recall which way off hand, but the spring that applies tension to the arm against the windsheild also applies tension to the collar that fits the stud. Release the tension by I think pulling up on the wiperarm or lift up on the arm as you pull it off the stud.

i used channel locks wrapped in tape to grab the lower lip and pull it off. Had to do a bit of this side, then a bit of that side and just kinda walk it off.
