With the engine out, will the transmission hold itself up?

I have a jack under the front of the trans to keep it's own weight off of it. Just wanted to know if it is safe to take the jack out and will the trans be able to support itself without damaging something.

I need to move the car over on the wheel dollies to get that 2 gallons of trans fluid off the floor...got some cleanup to do today.

 

Nope. It will drop down in the front. I have taken some rope or strong wire and tied it up to the hood hinges and then moved the car before, but I wouldn't want to leave one dangling by just the tranny mount.

 

That is what I was afraid of. I will figure something out, because i have to catch the "Transfluid River" before it flows off my epoxied garage floor and out on to my cement driveway...

Can't get to the puddle with the car over it.

 

just take some bailing wire and go through the 2 upper trans holes and then up and around the shock tower supports and you will be good to go

 

I have a piece of chain that I bolt in between the top of the tranny bell and one of the cowl holes for the shock tower support.

 

Do you have the torque convertor out? If not don't let it stay in there too long. Are you going to change the tranny front seal? Good thing to do.

 

Tie it thru the strut to cowl brace holes w/a clothes hanger

 

Ran a chain from hole on one side to hole on other side and over my monte carlo mounts. Holding well and I have moved the car around and got all that fluid up. you can now eat off my garage floor!!!

 

I don't know about you guys in texas, but in Arizona we usually eat at a table.
