Won't go into gear

    I have a C4 from a 89 mustang and it will only go in park, reverse and nuetral. But in reverse it will stall out when I get on the accelerator hard. It will not move in any drive gear. Any suggestions?

    First off, it may have come from a 89 mustang but it didnt come from the factory with it. First you need to identify the trans.

    You either have an AOD or someone swapped the C4 into the car.
    Is the pan small and square?
