Sprayed it with Charcoal Metallic ... was tough keeping the metallic grain looking the same all the way across. I sprayed the ashtray seperate so it doesn't exactly match ... but not really noticable. Little shinier than it should be but the lacquer should die down to match the plastic instrument cluster and bezel (I hope).

Swapped the cracked dash pad for a clean one, installed some NOS wiper and light knobs from eBay and added the factory Rear Defogger switch and wiring.

Rain in GA kept me inside today ....

wow must be nice to have a garage like that to take a car inside and take your time on it. When I painted my dash I had to do it in a few hours outside with the sun setting.

Actually it was an old can of spray paint I had laying around. Couple of years ago I had a 1984 Mustang GT convertible (I'm an idiot for selling it). Anyway, I had gotten a scratch on it and Metro Mustang mixed me a can of paint so I could fix it.

I have a mustang that looks very close to that its just alittle smaller :) I wonder how that testers paint would hold up on a dash ?

Its almost identical to the original dash color. Mavericks with black interiors all had metallic charcoal dashes. If you hold a light up to the dash you will see it. Everything else in the interior was actually black though ... Here is a pic of the "black" dash in my parts car ... notice with the bright flash it it show's metallic charcoal ...

dmhines............I've been watching your progress..fantastic! I was just going toclean my engine compartment...til I saw yours!
My car is stripped down about where yours is in these pics.
What is the little thingy hanging down from dash on bottom right of second picture? Would you have any miscellanous parts from your parts car willing to part with? ie. heater control cover, heater venting channels. Congrads on the nice work! mac

I washed it down really good with Wax, Grease and Silicon Remover then used a fine 3M scuff pad to rough it up. If you are painting in the car obviously the dash is vertical. Move the paint fast and do very light coats because it will run very easily ...
