Thanks for the welcome. I figured there were some low 9-second Mavericks out there...

Does anyone know if the Maverick's spindle setup is unique to Mavs only? I'm looking into drag brakes right now and Aerospace, Strange, and Mark Williams all offer a setup for early Mustangs and Pintos only. Would these work the same and the companies are just not listing the Mavs possibly? I know SSBC makes a kit, and I could steal a setup from a Granada, but i need something very lightweight.

Great to have you over here. I'm a NMRA member so I know your car well. Just been waiting to see it run. You'll find answers to all your Maverick questions, including the brakes, on this forum...there's great info here.

Good to hear. I'm out of Yorba Linda, work in Costa Mesa.

As for plans, first I will probably run Brackets or the 10.60 class in the PSCA. Then when I change the cam, ditch the transbrake, get a cage, and get some carpet I want to run PSCA Limited Street with it.

I want to eventually build it into an Outlaw car. it will be easy to get to minimum weight in a Maverick with small-block on nitrous. Unlike the fox 10.5 Mustangs out there.

    :Welcome:

I believe all the front suspension and brakes are the same as late 60's model Mustang so any of that should fit. We put Maverick spindles and brakes onto my Dads 68 Mustang, so putting Mustang on Maverick should work.

Oh hey man, good to hear from you. Trying to tackle the manual front steering right now. Auto Krafters sent me a center link with the holes for the tie rods drilled wrong (tapered backwards). Other than that, I was supposed to get kicked off the tra....I mean go to the track on Thursday.

The center link is probably right. If you have a power steering gear box, you will have to change the pittman arm. I just went thru the same thing. I thought my centerlink was wrong also. Fortunately I had another car with manual steering that I just stole the complete gearbox from. You really need a manual gearbox anyway. The lock to lock ratio is quite different. It's much more difficult to turn using a power gearbox versus the manual box.

I changed my power steering to manual by just changing the control valve. This works great for drag cars where you don't need to turn a lot...the spool in the back will make it a little bit harder to turn too. I have no problem with my setup for the drag strip. Why did you need to get a new center link?

Well, I originally rigged it to be manual by bolting up a block off plate on the control valve. It worked fine, but I ended up bending my driver's side tie rod setup on a curb (don't ask), I figured since I needed to change the tie rods anyhow I'd convert to a manual link. It's looking like I may send it back and continue with my rigged setup. I just hate that friggin' valve!
