I just got started cleaning my heads and upon inspection, the 1st two rockers I took off (pedistal mount) have the oil grooves worn off them on one side. I am assuiming this is a problem. I truied to get pics but my cam won't focus that close. Any ideas?
Set your resalution to a higher setting and stand back about 3 feet before you take the picture. Crop the picture.
Or find the flower button (macro) on your camera, and you can get in to about 18". Honestly, I am not 100% sure what you are talking about, but I bet a picture will clear things up.
If it's got a roller cam and more than 100K miles on it, the pushrods are going to be worn too on the rocker ends. The lifters don't spin and so neither do the pushrods, this leads to a shorter life span than a flat tappet pushrod. Be a great time to upgrade to full roller 1.7 rockers.
Yes, the fulcrum and rocker each have 2 oil grooves in them. they ride on each other. 1 side of each rocker's and fulcrum's groove is worn away.
Yeah, they need to be replaced.Possibly an oil starvation problem,or could be they are just worn out.How are the others?I'd replace them all with a new set, along with fresh pushrods and lifters. That way everything is fresh.
