I'm going to be listing this Comet GT hood for sale on eb.. soon and I wanted to get some opinions from the members.

Do you think this hood is worth more if I sell it complete, or remove the scoop, trim piece, emblem and sell them separate?

As you can see in the pictures, it has a hole cut in it under the scoop and there is rust under the front lip. It does have all the original paint and stripes still intact, so I'm not sure which scenario makes more sense.

    Opinions???

The scoop is worth more than the hood. Since it's the same scoop as they used on the Cougar Eliminator. With the right casting numbers, they can be worth quite a bit, but since your's looks like it's the actual Comet GT one, it's worth good money, just not as much as some.

With the hole cut into it....I think it is really hard to say. I suppose I would have to agree with Dave and say the scoop is worth a lot.

If you decide to part it out..I'd interested in the scoop.

My opinion is seperate the items.. That hood looks terible. The hood is a hood and not really anything special. The paint and stripes are not really going to help anyone that I can tell.. Maybe to copy them somehow but the paint color/condition wouldn't match anyway. Would not be worth paying for shipping the hood..

Easier to sell in pieces and ship individual items than the whole hood.

Only likely way you'll sell the hood is with the scoop... Once the scoop is gone, only someone who already has a scoop or maybe building a race car will want it...

    YMMV

You can get a repo scoop from Crites $85 that is a very nice piece and fits great so I don't know how much that scoop would really be worth. I agree that I would leave them together to move the hood.

What ever you do, DON'T sell that hood to Maverick Man ...

It would completely blow my limited budget, because he would make a carbon fiber Comet GT hood, and then that would become a "want it, need it, gotta' have it ..." thing .... :p :bouncy: :D

Seriously, that hood looks like it would make an excellent starting point to pull a mold from ... outer skin looks good.

Other than that, it does make more sense to part it and scrap the hood, like others have said. That scoop probably has three different part numbers molded into it, for the different models it was used on. I have watched a couple of Cougar scoops stagnate on eBay at $300 for months.

I have a very nice hood if he needs one for a mold.. Just would hope for a break on a carbon hood ;)
