71 comet, converted to 4 speed toploader a few years after purchase. Original driveshaft, just finishing up restoration after sitting for 30 years. Tranny rebuilt, not by me, no drive train vibrations or noise. I may have 300 miles of test driving but noticed oil leaking from tailhousing seal from probably the first test drive. It's not much but I decided to pull driveshaft. The Pic of the yoke shows my problem and why maybe the seal won't do it's job. I really didn't notice what the yoke looked like when I put it in, but I have about 2 or so inches of "shiny" condition and ridges and/or scratches at each end. My question is, is there a bushing or something inside the Tranny that is rubbing the yoke this way? Should I have this discoloration? The ridges could be caused by movement of the rear-end under acceleration(flexing). Do you feel I just have an old worn out yoke or something fishy in the tranny causing this?

there is A tail shaft bushing in the transmission trail shaft. drive shaft seems to be about 1" short and the yoke 2" too long. also that looks a little deep for the yoke to be in the tail shaft...JMO
