Hey guys!! i bought a 74 comet 2 door 302 about a month ago.. im 19 years old.. and have a ton of questions.. first off.. this group of guys with Mavericks and comets is awesome.. ok.. so my car had one of those giant bumpers on it.. my dad had a maverick that had the smaller one on it but his was a 72 ... i took the bumper off... cuz i think it looks stupid.. can put the little one on my car.. ?? secondly.. are the quarter panels pretty much the same..?? i seen new quarter panels from jc whitney for about 100 bucks.. but their for a 72.. i didn't know if they switched the body style or what..?? and i was wondering what gear ratio was probably in my car.. i know its high and im planning on getting deeper gears this summer cuz i got a buddy with a mustang 2 idk what year.. but its the ugly mustang.. and a buddy wit a 88 camaro..so i think i definately have the cooler looking car :thumbs2: we are all the same age and want the fastest car out of our little group:drive:... lol

    Howdy and :Welcome:
To answer your questions, yes you can put smaller bumpers on your car but it is not a bolt on thing. Look at post #8 in this thread to give you an idea of what is involved. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=11033&highlight=graft
The quarter panels are all the same on these cars. Most of the ones like JC Whitney sells are good patch panels. They take some finesse to work because they dont have the sharp lines like the originals. THe rear in your car is either a 2:70 (axle code 3) or a 3:00 (axle code 6)

Hey, I'm 25 and I just got a 74 Maverick 2 door about 6 months ago. I haven't started working on it yet but i understand what you're going through. Good luck and if you come across some advice in your future that you think might be helpful for me too, please, let me know. I could use all the help I can get.

Welcome aboard. I'm almost 18, and I've had my Maverick about 4 years now.
