The guys are too big to be resting on them fenders..
I wish I knew how they managed to get a show.. Seems lacking in most departments especially technical.
I would like to do a show about gates if anyone can and would like to produce it :D

    Earl,

I have enjoyed Overhaulin' a lot, watch a lot of episodes, but still, the idea that you have to build a car while the paint is still drying makes me twitch a bit. I always feel that if they are under that pressure to get the car done in a week, it may end up close, but still won't be everything it possible should be if done on a sane schedule. Having an army of people helps Overhaulin', too.

Now these guys .... first off, I doubt it is just those four guys. I didn't recall seeing anyone waving around a spray gun. Another thing that is suspect is that I swear I recognize one, possibly two of them from other shows, and they may not be automotive shows either .... in other words, actors.

After watching the whole show, I thought the Shelby came out nice for the money spent. I have around the same in my GT and it's in pieces, doesn't have a 427, needs tires and paint. My headers are dinged up too though

It didn't get a 427. They put heads and an intake on the stock lower end.

My bad.. That was on the Mustang. I do remember them saying they they were rebuilding it. Not sure the extent though.

On the show, he said they "stroked it" whether they did or not, I can't say. Amazing it is the only car I don't think they ever didn't show running.

I was not at all impressed. I won't be watching that again. I think the guy Steve was on another show as "the Worlds Strongest Redneck"

    It was ok..but..

I couldve found a nicer mustang for the money..the owner had no history with car so why have these guys build it...let someone else take the loss and buy a done car.

The maverick was ok too but why rush a restoration on your daughters car? Its like the guy had 20 grand to burn. I know it was a surprise for his daughter coming home but thats what you get. I dont think you could do a decent paint job in 10 days and after they were done the painter had maybe 3? If the 10 day thing is true.

Its guys working on older cars so ill keep watching but it is what it is.

Still not as bad as Extreme car hunters...that show is horrible.

Why cant they do a show from a top shop like Rad rides by Troy or similar?

Because the big guys aren't interested in wrecking their reputation like Coddington did (my opinion). They have better things to do like actually build nice cars!

You have 20 in your car and parts? Wow, you just need another 8 grand for paint and body, and you'll be done! :D

Yea.. I know. I will be paying someone to do it. I did what I could and I don't like it (body work). It's staying a shell till then cause all the parts would have to come off again. This is why I will just throw my 72 together. So I can drive it till my 73 gets done the way I want. I been doing allot of talk but watch out.. All of a sudden it'll come together.
My spine Dr has decided to give me a fourth shot. I am waiting till that's all done even though I feel ok.

I've been watching this show since it started a few episodes ago, and I have to say, it's completely fabricated, and those guys are definately actors.

-they don't have a paint booth...they do NONE of their own bodywork or paint

-so far, they've only showed them do very simple work...we've watched them remove and install an engine a dozen times now. When they were working on the 68 fastback suspension, they had no clue how to properly remove the suspension...they were wacking on the stud end of the tie rod...a proper shop would be using the proper tools for the job...

-the biggest issue I've seen is price...every time they talk about something going downhill, they throw some massive number out there, for example, when the maverick headers didn't fit, they said there goes 2 grand for another set of headers, lol...they're constantly quoting these stupid numbers that make no sense, which shows that they're not actually spending any money at all on these builds, and that everything is fabricated bs.

-The thing that pissed me off on this episode, is trying to BS us into believe that they actually purchased a 68 fastback for $8500 with a mint paintjob, nice interior, fully running and driving....out here, in land o plenty, california, $8500 buys you a stripped fastback shell with rust, and nothing in it.

-notice the disgusting engine bay in the fastback? It had grease, nicks, old stickers, faded badly...they didn't paint it or detail it at all. If I just paid $60 for a fastback, it better not have 50 year engine bay paint. Same story with the maverick...they drop the entire drivetrain in with a grabber blue paintjob in the engine bay...wtf? Why did they not paint the engine bay when the motor was out...I'm curious how that engine bay turned out, they never showed it at the end

seems the good shows have gone, horsepower tv, muscle car, extreme 4x4, trucks, etc...now THOSE were hardcore build shows...

Everyone is trying to do the gas monkey garage show, and it sucks.

my guess is that the show approaches individuals with cars, and offers to do a restoration on them, likely at the shows expense...there are just too many corners that are being cut...

I loved the one wheel peel in that fastback...$60k gets you a 427 stroker motor, and you leave the original open diff 8" in there??!

Watched it last night at a buddy's house. I got rid of cable because of programming like this.

Why people pay to watch poorly fabricated crap with worthless actors is beyond me.

IT was a horrible show! Like most TV now. My cable is cancelled this week. TV is so bad now.
