Yea im pretty sure that Steve is the one from worlds strongest redneck, and I think its funny that they never do any actual technical work on camera, just general big jobs like pulling an engine, you know stuff that can be set up by real mechanics before the cameras roll

 

Yeah, I question the time involved, and wonder how they can completely rebuild a car in a week. I think it takes longer for the parts to arrive than that! But it is as close as I think they have come to an on the level show.
BTW, you going to the Dream Cruise this year? I will be there!

 

Yeah, show's a joke, with no real value to serious hot rodders. Overhaulin' was a show that was entertaining and the cars were pretty good, at least they looked good. Hard to buy the timeline though. To me, rebuilding a car in a week is a stretch!

Amazingly, this guy is named Steve, too. Looks awfully close to WSR.

The other guy that negotiates the deals is the other guy that looks familiar ... I am thinking that he plays mafia-characters in TV or film but I haven't made the connection yet.

that's him...my powdercoating Guy told me today that his son is a body builder and they are friends.

 

Shelby, the young lady that owns the car, commented on one of my Facebook posts about the car that they did not pay $20K to do that car. And according to her dad, Kevin Moore, with all the stuff he is having to redo, it's a good thing. He said they were suppose to install the rear Shelby tail panel and paint it Grabber blue also. Kevin said they did a real hack job but didn't look too bad on tv. He is now redoing the car like he wanted it in the first place.
And I'd be willing to bet money that they did not get $60K for that Mustang. I see that show being very short lived. The guys are nothing but a joke in my opinion. The worst part of the show for me was watching them try to make these cars run these fast times with both of their big butts in them!!
But all in all, I did enjoy getting to see a Maverick build on a tv show. Might be a long time, if ever, we get to see that again. Unless we get some Brazilian tv. Those guys rock!!!

 

Some things I noticed while watching my DVR version.

- Cleanest hands I have ever seen on an engine and tranny pull.

- The "Maverick Shelby" pictures they featured were of the car on eBay that was a Shelby "clone" at best.

- They actually said (I backed it up several times) "Falcon and Fairline". Fairline? Seriously?

- The headers were hitting the "control arm". Really? I have never seen that. Maybe the steering center link or the pitman arm.

- The beating of the headers on the floor of the shop. Even if one was to dent the headers, you would at least "back up" the portion you were pounding on. The way he was hitting it....it would bend the crap out of all the tubes.

 

When you think about this show in the broader sense, Fat and Furious is about as real as Fast and Furious ....

oh yeah, ..... what about "I can't believe the previous owner of the Mustang glued everything under the hood!" .... yeah, I can't believe it either ....

 

Well, I can believe that one, the previous owner of mine used "marine epoxy" to form an entirely new battery tray, fix a cracked grille and grille mounts, seal a freeze plug, keep the interior panels from flaking by coating them, patch the quarter panels, and hold in the sending unit for the gas tank... he told me when I bought it he used some really good stuff on the interior but I didn't know he thought it was miracle putty

 

I want them to redo my '73.



Yea right!!! The show is a joke and they ruined a "sub compact" Maverick. Did anyone notice they called the Maverick a sub compact which would be a Pinto, a Maverick is a compact car. I doubt a Maverick is 1000 pounds less than a Mustang. Very dissappointed!!!!! All the reality car shows are fake and not for real car people.

 

Whats funny is they were bragging about the ceramic coated headers for the Maverick … by the time they were finished trying to fit them and tweaking them with a hammer .. they were all scratched to hell and looked like crap. i was thinking I would be pissed if I was the owner of that car paying them $20K.

 

Yep. I noticed that right away (and found it offensively ignorant).

 

Maverick tail lights

Does anybody know what year Shelby the tailights they used were? Anybody know the best place to purchase a pair? I like those they used.

 

65 T-Bird or 68-69 Shelby. There's an aftermarket company that makes an LED set that works great and you don't have to use those big log bulky housings. Can probably Google Shelby tail light conversion and find it.
