I thought My car was Calypso corral but I was told that color was not a 1971 color ! what was the stock Red called !
Try this Mavit http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Ford-M...anuals_Literature&hash=item3ce543e850&vxp=mtr The only year Pinto had a good red....
The colors on that chart don't look any thing like what was on my car! The original color looked more like the Vermilion on the 1970 list! Thanks for the information The color samples are price less!
My car is Bright Red - Code 3. It definitely has a lot of Orange in it (I watched it being mixed) but not Orange like Calypso Coral.
Yes your car is the same color as mine, I was misinformed on the color when I bought my car from the dealer, this is the first time I had a chance to compare the Body Code to a chart!
Did your paint vendor match the factory "bright red" color? Is there a certain spec that they can match or do they match a sample?
My car is painted factory Bright Red. Body shop use the formula out of his book and made a two-stage paint out of it. Here is what it looked like before restoration: After
The paint shop said he could match the color by taking a sample from the in side of the trunk! he never gave a color! He said codes are hard to match because the paints are not the same any more! !
Are you painting the entire car?? Or is he making Touch-up paint? If you are painting the entire car then just have him use the color mix supplied by his chosen paint supplier Converting a single stage mix to a 2-stage mix may not create a 100% perfect original color .. but it should be close enough. I assume you are going to do base coat / clear coat.
