I was wondering if anyone knows what autolite battery cover looks best and who sells it, also what battery would I need to have so the top looks correct on there. Mine is a 72 with a 200.
Scott Drake makes the best cover IMO. You can purchase the cover at Melvins Classic Ford Parts. Be aware there is also a cheaper version available that doesn't look near as nice as the Scott Drake cover. You will need a group 24F battery. http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb...~S4AP0Y5O5750160279424x~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50001018o
Or just buy the battery and forget the top..... http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb...~S4AP0Y5O5750160279424x~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50001018o
your probably right, after buying the top , battery, and shipping it might not cost that much more, and I'm sure it will look great, how long do those batteries usually last?
then again you will have the top if your battery dies, if the real one dies it would cost alot more to replace
Ditto on the Drake. Make sure to get a maintenance free flat top 24F. My buddy Fred always had to have the Autolite copy battery in his Shelby. He would get 2 years at most from it.
Here is a picture of my battery before the cover. I used a NAPA. It has to be a flat top maintenance free group 24F The second picture is with the cover.
All I see are red X's. I have no idea what brand battery I am using. I would guess an EXIDE. We have a battery store in town that sells all kinds of batteries. Use a heat gun to remove the stickers on the sides and it is all black.
