Doing this in plywood would not result in weight savings.... that stuff is heavy, and the seat is surprisingly light. It would probably be very close.

Done in aluminum, this might lose a little weight, but it wouldn't be much.

John, did you apply the carpet directly to the wood,or did You use some sort of foam sheeting,in between the two?

i applied it right to the plywood.it is actully naugahide on the other side and thin carpet on the side you can see.my mother in law use to work for labra its really reversed car bra material.and im thinking of putting a thin sheet of aluminum on the back side of the top piece.

just take your time measure twice and cut once and i used a jig saw for a lot of it. the back is pretty much squared.its the bottom that has the tappered cuts because of the side panels. if you need more info just pm me.

The picture is gone.......gone......gone I say. Cant get a break. Maybe if I would have been here sooner...like 11 years ago.

Does anyone have a good pic of rear seat delete? I have the one with the plans downloaded. It is a pretty good one I was just looking for some others to maybe get some different ideas.

    That help?

I don't have the car anymore, so this is the best I can do.

The top diagram is the floor, the bottom diagram is the back.

I originally did it MANY years ago, because my dog always liked to ride with me, and she was starting to wear a hole in the fabric of the rear seat. No damage to the foam, yet. Someday, when the dog was gone, I planned on recovering the seats to match whatever I put in for front buckets.

So I made this as a flat platform that she could sit/lay/stand on with carpet, so she wouldn't slide around or get cut up on the little hooks that hold the back seat down.

Once I removed the rear seat, seatbelts, etc. I put this on each back window.

Yes I have both of these pics saved and printed already. I was just curious about maybe more pics to see. I really like this and will be doing either the exact same thing or pretty close. I should be able to figure it out. You did a really good job looks good.

So I am guessing here on materials:
    (1) - 1/2 a sheet of plywood
    (1) - 2 x 4 about 36" long
    Some carpet/covering
Maybe some bolts/ screws to mount.

    Does that sound about right?

See when I got my Maverick, it had (and still has) some aftermarket bucket seats kinda racing style ebay specials.
They are not bad as I sort of like them...anyway...... the materials they are made of is more of a felt type...so I thought I would cover a back seat delete with something as close as I could find...as well as maybe the door panels.

That leads to me next search...redoing the door panels. I may try to just get a better set. But I just don't have the funds.
And I wouldn't mind having something a little different. I have both the originals so I will just keep them with the car.

Thanks for the help I do appreciate it big time

    Thanks
