oh well, should be fairly easy...just the weather around here is not helping so I find myself looking around for stuff rather than getting my hands dirty and figuring it out. lol I have noticed you and your posts...I have a question about ....wait for it....headers. I have a set of Hedman 88408 shorties. I have seen pics of them looking as if they fit, I have seen collectors cut off and pipe extended...which is not a bad idea anyway in my opinion. But I have "heard" that if the engine (302 V8) is raised up about 3/8 - 1/2 inch that it really helps. Do you know by chance? I have also heard to try and find some 63 falcon engine mounts..or 65 mustang engine mounts? I have the original mounts still on mine. As soon as weather gets steady on the warm and dry I have to get my Mav back running...along with some other upgrades. I am going to post most of this up to see if anybody will jump in. Thanks Jerry
The car I bought had Hedman shorties cut and pipes welled on and it looked to work great. Also though it doesn't have shock towers so we will see how it works in my Grabber once I install in it.
Well from all I can tell (and could very well be wrong here) the shock towers are so much the issues it is where the upper control arm bolts up. That is why I think so guys have used spacers on the motor mount bolts to lift the engine up just a little to help the exhaust clear those bolts. Some have to even cut those bolts almost flush! That would be a little scary to me. Like I said I am dying to get started and I will take pics and post stuff that I run into so others can see. Of course if you change all of that to a Mustang II set up you have a lot more room. Thanks!
My bolts were cut for many years with no issues. The real issue some of us have is the one tube touching the gear box. I had to dimple my header there. My headers are the Blackjack though.
Mine is manual for now. I am not sure that there is a size difference with the boxes. Yes. Full length. But I did have the flanges cut off and the pipe welded straight to the ends of the headers. Which I have had to cut.
