Does anyone know where I can get a voltage regulator for the instrument cluster? I tried going the the forum and there wasn't much on it or where to get it! Also anyone have a '72 cluster circuit board in good condition that they're willing to sell? I need any since I can't see my lights at night and I think it is because the voltage reg. might be damaged or out of date!

If you need a voltage reg you can go to any mustang parts store and get one from an early mustang.

Honestly though just throw 3 leds in there and paint the inside white and you will be fine.

A lot of times when your dash lights are dim it is the headlight switch rheostat, so that means you need a new headlight switch. Not saying the other parts are good just saying the switch is a common problem

I completely forgot about the rheostat, but the lights arent coming on at all for the dash other than the turn signals! I have bought led lights but they arent working the way i'd expect them to! I will try the paint though, it caught my attention! I need to change the rheostat but how and where do I get the replacement parts? I'll be doing this on Friday since I know i'll have some time then. Someone please let me know were I can get those parts please, I already bought the IVR just in case!

Go to any auto parts store I usually get it from oriellys. Ask for the headlight dimmer. You will have to remove the instrument cluster and then the ac/heater controls. Just push them off to the side. Then on the headlight switch you will feel a button that you will press to release the knob and then you can remove the harness and unscrew it out. It can be a pain to do but not too horrible.

turn the...light switch knob...back and forth several times, sometimes that helps (if the rheostat isn't broken)...:yup:

The regulator has ZERO to do with lighting, it provides a constant voltage source for the fuel gage...

So I painted the cluster white for better lighting, and I changed the rheostat, the cluster voltage reg. didn't come in yet so that is still to be installed. The headlight switch still works and better than before, it actually dims but unfortunately the dash lights aren't coming on at all! I think it really might be the circuit board because to be honest it is pretty corroded! But every time I try fixing one problem I fell that another comes up. It might just be my paranoia but after I shut off the engine there is a splashing noise coming near the passenger side. It could be the trans. but I've never heard it make that noise before. Any one else have a clue on what might help or to fix and get lights back up on my dash? What kind of LEDs is everyone else using? Does anyone know someone or someplace that's selling a circuit board for the dash cluster?

Post a picture of the back of your cluster. It's usually not too hard to see if it is in bad shape. I might have one I'll have to look though.

This what it looks like! It might look good but it really isn't, the contacts are decently corroded, and they're starting to tear!
