Just clean all of the bare copper contacts with a pencil eraser. Bulb sockets too. As mentioned, all the regulator does is supply a constant 5V or so to the fuel gauge.
Is that a burn on the bottom left? I have seen them before where they get too hot melt the plastic and do not work correctly.
I would clean the copper with an eraser but I've already used a circuit board cleaner i had and almost worked until it tore part of the circuit board. Yes that is a burn in the bottom left and there are also a few other burn spots on the contacts!
I was thinking the noise you hear was a vac. pod air release on a vent door, they make a hissing sound.
Take a multi-meter and check for continuity at each snail trail from connector to each contact along the trail. Pull the bulbs and check them too. Any breaks in continuity need to be cleaned/repaired. You can also bench test with 12volt across each bulb. Do not apply 12volt to the gas gauge as I believe the regulator output is more like 5volts.
The fuses are fine because the turn signals, alt, break and other lights come on, everything but the lights that allow me to see the fuel gauge and speedometer. I will try checking for continuity and such later but right now I have a lot going on that I really need to take care of but until I get it done I ask of others to help me figure out how to solve this with other ideas! Thanks!
I noticed you installed LED lights. Some of these are polarity specific. Unlike bulbs, + has to be + and - has to be -. Micah
