Hey guys, Im going to replace most of my front end steering/suspension components on my 72 maverick with manual steering. I've come up with a list of moog parts and just wanted to double check and make sure im not missing anything. -Upper control arm (assembled with balljoint, shaft and bushings) #RK621369 $68.75 x2 -Front strut rod bushings #K8157 $39.04 -Front sway bar bushings #K5227 $6.97 -Front sway bar end link -heavy duty #K6630 $10.62 x2 -Outer tie rod end #ES387R $25.71 x2 -Inner tie rod end #ES387L $63.78 x2 -Upper control arm alignment kit #K8243A $20.06 x2 -Lower control arm (balljoint & bushings) #CK8123 $60.14 x2 -Idler arm bushing (manual steering) #K8094 http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/products/ford_maverick_1972 I know its missing the pitman and idler arms and adjusting sleeves. I was thinking these could either be reused or just sourced elsewhere. Anything im missing?
I would definitely recommend roller spring perches, they are pricey but MAN do they make a difference in ride quality!
If I were you I would call Moog about that upper control arms. When I called in reference to them the guy on the phone says it would be best to rebuild the original ones. Something about them being cheaply made. But it's your call...
I installed Moog UCA last spring; I don't have any issue w/ them. Comparing them w/ the OE units, I don't see any visual or weight difference. If there is any significant difference it's not obvious. Also, I agree w/ Mad Goon --- roller perches are pricey, but do make a difference in ride quality.
I would go with a set of these as well, they made a big difference IMO http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/hd-tie-rod-adjuster-sleeves.93848/#post-1089461
I got a set of those too. I did my entire suspension & steering replacement. I wish I had got a set of lower control arms w/ roller bearing too. If I ever do any other work to the suspension will get a set. For now going to ride/cruise and enjoy what's on the car now... https://www.pacificthunderperformance.com/collections/1970-1977-maverick-comet
