What's yalls opinions on painting iron heads a silver or aluminum color? I have the engine painted red right now as I did years ago and it looked great.

However i have grown to like how aluminum heads look with a different color block.

If I do this it'll be a red block with silver heads with aluminum intake ...with ceramic coated headers.

I k ow it'll look good but I dont want it to look fake or cheap. Have you ever seen cast iron heads painted silver and if so did it look decent?

now that does look good. I will for sure paint the heads silver now. So do you go plain silver or metallic or what? Looks so nice.

    Mine aren't painted, natural aluminum.

Shade is a matter of preference, I have some chrome that looks almost like aluminum(definitely isn't chrome in appearance). It's on the hard lines mounted to firewall.

I would suggest the...aluma blast paint. it looks like glass beaded aluminum. to me that would give them the aluminum head look.
I used it on all my show bike cast aluminum parts. I even had people question..."how do you keep that blasted aluminum that clean"?
I get mine from a local machine shop, they have the good stuff.

Leave it red. I prefer blue but red looks considerably better than fake aluminum.

Too late lol. I wasnt trying fake an aluminum head but rather hoped the color combination would look good. I found some really nice paint and it looks nice so far.

I've done it to heads and intakes.. looks faked but color combo's turn out nice. Needs to be a coordinated effort without 7 different colors being used like the 80's when anodizing took off and people got carried away. Lol

Here's how it turned out. I sprayed the aluminum intake too so it would all match. Valve covers...carb...and headers match as is. I love it!!!

Looks good! And after it heat cycles many times some of the pigments will slightly darken about a 1/4 shade and the shine will reduce a tad more too. Sometimes too chromy or shiny makes the other weaker points stand out more if that bling bar gets raised too much. Lol

Hopefully you used a higher temp engine enamel?

Just my two cents .... Why not have your "manifold" ceramic coated silver .. We've done it on several cars and it
    looks great ..
