I have never seen headlight, turn signals or anything else change from normal. Also, gauge goes to 14V from engine start and never change until I turn off igntion.

Removed the front windshield over the weekend. Whomever installed it previously used a LOT of adhesive. Also started to remove the dash board.

Fix it like you did your kitchen light.

Shine a flashlight on the lights(you'll need two), that'll will create a electrical vortex inversion, they'll start working again.

I'm going to look into getting a bigger alt. I replaced the battery, the old one was 6yrs old. Any suggestions for an alt. that will fit the same form factor?

I use the ford 3g alt off of the 1993 ford Taurus? It is very simple to install. You remove all of the factory harness to the voltage regulator and the regulator. You will need to get the alt, the harness (you can just buy a 3g harness) and you will need to make a new battery cable. Very easy to install.

Then stat that was installed wasn't getting anywhere nearly hot enough. If it had actually been off by only 8*, there probably would not have been a needles width of difference in gauge reading.

It had been OK for some time after last stat install?
