Looking for ballpark price for a very rusted floorpan replacement... he already has the floorpan.. just the labor cost. Found a Comet with decent interior, nice paint, solid v8 engine and zero rust on the roof . Asking $3500 and seeing if its worth it. Looking to spend in the $8 to $9k range total with new floor pan and new vinyl interior.. Am I dreaming here? I want a driver car thats not too nice to have to park across the street when I go to the grocery store...but nice enough to get to the store anytime I wanna go >>
    Thanks
    JJ

what is it going in? is it a factory replacement? are the torque boxes rusted to the need of repair? is the frame rotted also? was rotted out cowl the reason the floor is needing repair or is it from a bad heater core? you need something to weld the floor pan to, these are the welding points.
...I SEE YOU HAVE THIS DOUBLE POSTED...

RustBucket do you have a deadline to purchase a Maverick or Comet? Leave the rust buckets alone, they are more trouble than they are worth. Be patient in your pursuit!!

Yes......just say NO to rust. In my opinion, way too easy to find rust free Mavericks/Comets out there. They cost more, but they are worth it.

For you budget you mentioned, and your criteria.....I think you could find a car DONE for that price.

I think you should RUN away from that one. For every spot of rust you see there’s a lot more that will show its ugly head as your project progress.
IMHO you should buy the cleanest (NO RUST) car you can find even if it reaches your 8-9k budget, don’t rule out 6 cyl car’s as it will be MUCH cheeper to do a V8 conversion than rust repair.

Take my advice for what it’s worth, after all I’m just another monkey banging on a keyboard.

Depends on how much work u want to do. I've done a shit ton of rust repair on mine and I'm good with that. But some are not. I wouldn't recommend doing what I've done it's just that I'm dead set on saving this car.

That's crazy, why list a car you aren't prepared to sell? Either way, good luck with your search, the right one is out there!

WOW that is a very nice car and the price is great also, somebody is going to get a great deal . If I was looking for a car and didnt mind putting out some dollars to do a v8 swap this would be a top candidate you dont see them this nice very often, heck I might drive it the way it is .
