I apologize if this is not the proper place to post this. I am trying to find the fastener shown below. It is the tail-panel attachment for a gas cap with a cable tether. Does someone know what this type of fastener is called? It is similar to an eye bolt but not quite.
Don't feel bad about not knowing what that is. I was in the fastener business for a while and the best I can come up with is "Drilled Cap Screw". Is there an allen socket in the top of the cap? If so, it would be a "Drilled Socket Head Cap Screw". Still not sure I am in the ballpark on this. It is pretty specialized.
If you are desperate and cant find one, I would try taking a correct sized bolt, slather the bolt end with paste flux, tighten a nut into it, solder the mess together with a small torch, and drill a hole. Crude, but if it is out of sight, maybe ok? That is the extent of what I can do in my "machine shop" lol. Or drill first and solder 2nd, as the drill might heat things up and melt solder? Cheap fun anyway.
I was guessing at the thread size but if it is 1/4" this is the one for you. just needs a hole. https://www.zoro.com/zoro-select-th...MIpeeC2OKB5QIVAdRkCh07WQugEAQYBSABEgKJrvD_BwE
