Hi, looked a few articles but wanted to check on the location of the top bolts for the rear shocks. I thought they would be in the trunk but they’re not so I’m assuming they’re under the back seat. ? Do I have to remove the bottom of the seat and the back of the seat?

Everything is accessed from under the car. The top of the shock is a horizontal bolt / stud that goes through a bracket that is bolted to the body. The bottom is a stud on the shock that goes through a plate / bracket that is attached to the leaf spring by the u-bolts for the leaf spring. 1970 did not use staggered shocks so the plates and brackets are different from other years.

If you need pictures let me know.

No - everything should be under the car. Unless there is something about that 7 1/4 rear of yours I'm not aware of.
Many Fords of that era did have access plugs found inside the trunk to get at shocks - but I have never pulled a rear seat to get at shocks - ever. I'll go take a picture of my 70 right now for you.

If your car doesn't have a top shock mount like this ........... look for a rubber access plug in the trunk.

My June built Grabber does have an 8".

Just replaced both rear shocks. It was simple (once you gave me the information). :). It’s crazy how all the nuts just screw off, they’re not rusted to the bolts. Thanks again!

Cool ........... glad you were able to get it done
Always nice when fasteners are not a solid piece of rusted junk.

Would you mind sending pictures? I have a 1970 however the driver side rear shock is on the rear side of the axle and the there are two brackets with a spacer. Can I just rotate the the plate under the leaf springs to get rid of the staggered shocks.

One can't rotate the plate under the leaf spring. Won't work that way. Plus it pushes the shock out toward the tire.

Sorry, just saw your post. I can get a picture later - right now the car is still in storage. 38 degrees with light snow /rain mix today. Still early in our "car season"
