Can anyone attest they’ve done this combo with say a Holley 850 carb? I’ve seen lots of threads and it seems most people go performer or performer RPM but I’m partial to the Stealth for whatever reason. Don’t want to cut hood or jack up the rear. Thanks!
Dunno about height but a 850 carb is at least 250 CFM more than is necessary. Low speed throttle response will be severely lacking. Even with a 2.5" exhaust system, you'll probably never see 83% VE. http://4secondsflat.com/Carb_CFM_Calculator.html
Agreed. 750 is more like it as I didn’t tell the whole story. 351 block but it’s really a 408 etc. but still 850 is too big, yes!
I have the same question. I want a grabber hood on my car and doing a 351w swap and have a stealth intake....
I cannot answer you 100%. I have a 302 with a Stealth intake and it is 4 inches from the carb flange, where the air cleaner sits, to the bottom of the hood and that is with a 1/2 inch carb spacer.
You'll be close, but the air cleaner itself will make a difference. There is raised, level and dropped bases that help to fit under he hood. And 2" or 3" air cleaner elements. Even with a 408, 700-750CFM is about right. I'd lean toward the 700 or maybe a 650 if street driving is more usage. Even the 428 SCJ only had a 735 on it and that was what they have to run in Super Stock class. Weiand makes good manifolds, just not the big PR that Edelbrock has.
All I can tell you is that a 351 is one inch taller than a 302. I have a Weiand Stealth on my 302 with a half-inch phenolic spacer. My air cleaner isn't really short and I am maxed out for hood clearance. So I would say that with no spacer and with the right air cleaner, it should work..
