Here's what I used to replace the Top Loader 4-speed in my Maverick in May of 2017. This transmission is the same length as my old transmission. I also had to purchase a new clutch disc and new yoke for the front of the driveshaft AND modify the transmission mount. It works to tame my 4.11:1 rear gear and 25" diameter tires. (You could also buy a transmission mount from 71Gold on the forum. I've not had any experience with his mount but heard that it works.)

Thanks for posting the links for the Tremec units; though I don't envision going to manual trans, I enjoyed consuming their information.

Easy to do, I was about to go over the size issues and the butchery I had to do to the tunnel to fit mine (TKO). Had to remind myself the T5 is smaller and people are fitting them without hacking sheet metal!

Mechanically , the T5 swap isn't too complicated from a 3 speed 3.3.03. A T5 bell and cable or Toploader to T5 Adapter plate and pushrod mod' is simple enough. The 3.03 is not as tall as T5's and other Tremecs, and will probably need some tunnel mod to retain DS angle.

    have fun
