Oh I wish I knew how but no. I found a guy that has been doing body work for many many years. He owns his own shop and works by himself. I went to multiple body shops and they wanted mucho money for a few weeks worth. This guy is taking his time and is no where as expensive. No overhead so no reason to charge as much. I was able to see his work on other vehicles first. He said as long as I have the time and patience then he would love to do it.
Gonna be nice when he,s done! Looks like he,s got the worst behind him so not much longer now! Its great you have patience too! Something i,m definitly lacking.
I can't say it's been easy. My patience has definitely been tested, it's been almost a year now. And yes the worst of the body work has been done. He has done some great work. I still need a new hood, it was in pretty bad shape.
I would have to search through my emails. It had the normal rust on the lip on the back side. There was also a lot of filler on the driver's side. Body guy said he could make it work but with what it would take to get it right, he would be afraid of all the filler cracking with shutting the hood lol
No sir it was not that bad before he got it. The lip wasn't as bad as the sheet metal on the hood. I'll have to go back and find my pictures.
So I did find the pictures, after sanding down the front lip of the hood, it was rusted through on the outside. Also had said some of the body filler on the hood was up to an inch thick. He did offer to fix it, weld a new strip in the front but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
Your hood looks very very workable. This is coming from a guy thats only welded on 2 cars. I had rust same as with 71gold's. Mine and 71gold's required lots of time and patience but were saved. Have you considered taking hood elsewhere for repairs while your main guy work on body?
Problem now is I am living back in MS and the car is still in Texas. That will make things a little more difficult. The guy said he could work it, my consideration is time and money. If it would be faster and cheaper to get a new one compared to the time and cost to repair the old one.
