One from an early Cougar will work. I have one around here somewhere for my car. Jeff will have the info you need.... rthomas771
One other question; I noticed that Melvins & AutoKrafters list a trunk latch for '70-'72 Mavericks but not '73-'77. Is the '73-'77 latch different from the early models?...
Only difference that I know is the way the lock attaches to the tail panel. 70-73 uses a horseshoe clip and the 74-77 uses a long bracket.
I would have to look at mine to see if the ebay one was right.I had 2 locks and may be confused.I can look at it tomorrow.
So nearly 2 years later... I decided to install the power trunk latch that's been sitting in my toolbox for almost 2 years. It's from a '72-'75 Lincoln. Well, it was a FAIL. The latch functions perfectly on the "bench", but soon as it's bolted onto the car, the mechanism will not latch or un-latch. Bolting it in seems to tweak the housing just enough to prevent it from working, which is a real bummer because I really wanted a power trunk release in my Maverick...
