I doubt the Professional Products guess as the pictures are not even close as to the configuration and dimmensions of the runners. Bring up the pictures side by side. I have used "Summit" parts before and in every case was able to identify the original manufacturer with little effort. The photos of the Stage 1 and the Stage 2 manifolds are spot on the same as the Wiend Action Plus and the Stealth manifolds. The only difference is the name cast into the top of the manifold. Since Summit does not "manufacture" anything but rather private labels products instead, I am fairly confident that they are being private labeled for them by Holley. We will know in a couple of weeks. I plan to purchase a Stage 2 for my beater to replace the cast iron 4 bl manifold I have now. Add the Doug Thorley headers and a slightly better cam..... We shall see...
Seeing how Summit cams are made by TRW, and TRW makes the exact same cams for Edelbrock... AND Flowtech makes Summit headers, which is a division of Holley with Hooker... They are all in bed together! The Stage 1 and 2 are, IMHO, Weiand (aka Holley) while the Stage 3 is Edelbrock. Dave
Actually, the entire aftermarket is one big empire controlled by Vic Edelbrock. His real name is Darth Aftermarket.
I have compared the SBF Stealth and the Summit version side by side in the Akron store. There is no difference. The Summit manifold IS a Weiand Stealth with "Summit" cast into it.
Ummmm... yeah... This thread is way old. Since this thread members have actually bought Summit intakes and posted pics of how incredibly nasty they are quality wise. I wouldn't take one if you gave it to me... or maybe I would take it in for aluminum recycling. Do a search on the subject. One thread went 3 or 4 pages and has super detailed pics of the chunk of shiot.
I'm not disagreeing with anyone else's experience since I did not see their parts. I actually had both manifolds sitting on the counter and looked in the plenum, compared the machining and the quality of the casting. They were almost identicle. It could be that Summit resourced the casting after earlier complaints or it could simply be the variation in part to part quality. The Weiand intake I took out of the box was not a stellar piece and all I am saying is that the Summit intake I compared to it to only had minor casting differences that were cosmetic.
The manifold info is really ancillary to my main point: This thread is ancient. Adding a response to a dead thread, as if it was a current discussion is called a "thread ressurection". Here is one of those threads I was refering to. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=30603 There are several like this on Stangnet too. As for Weiand Stealth, my neighbor got one and the quality was stellar. Can't say enough about it! I just got my own and am very happy I held out for the real deal. Done. This thread is way too old to keep afloat. Dave
If they want to discuss it, alteast they can do it in this thread instead of starting a new one about it and having the same points brought up again. I wonder if they have modified the way they are cast and the quality is better however
