As you were Maverick people. He was only a fraud to the vanners then. I guess you can go back to trusting him again.

It really saddens me to hear of good hearted people being taken for a ride. :(

This is definitely a wake up call for all of us. We need to scrutinize the situation and be vigilant when helping others in need, on the Internet and in real life as well. We have helped many many people in the past and I hope this does not change as a result of this.

Because Jim and I became friends, he shared personal stories with me, and I listened and advised as a minister, I'm trying to keep an open mind. I also realize that there are three sides to every story - his, theirs, and the truth. I've read the entire thread on the Vanner site, I've searched and read the threads about getting up a Maverick and parts for Jim, and I have noticed something out of kilter. I can't find the thread where we are told the Maverick is stolen, with his toolbox in the trunk, and later found at the bottom of a quarry (or something to that effect) all burned up. Is that thread missing? I have done every search I can think of to find it. If I remember correctly, it sounds awfully similar to the stolen van story I just read on the other site. Does anybody else recall that thread and story? Here's evidence there was one:

    http://mmb.maverick.to/showpost.php?p=194051&postcount=22

Here's another interesting post I found:

    http://mmb.maverick.to/showpost.php?p=137577&postcount=10

If the allegations are true and there is a pattern, then Jim's words should come back to haunt him. If they are true, I really feel sorry for Wayne Yarian. During a time when his business was beginning to fail, he loaded up the '72 shell, and a bunch parts from the guys around here, and hauled it all to Memphis at his expense. Wayne doesn't get on here very much anymore and I sure up all this is cleared up before he reads this thread.

Jim, as far as these responses go,

You can't be dirty on one board and clean on another. Dirty is dirty.

If anytrhing came out of this is that I found this site. I love mavericks. Back in High School. circa 1979, I helped a friend strip the inline 6 drivetrain and install a mildly done 302. Cam, head work, Edelbrock manifold and a Holley carb. Lakewood ascattershield surrounded the clutch and a top loader 4 spd. Out back was a 9 inch that we had to narrow a but to fit the wheel tire combo. It was a bit of a sleeper. It was a yellowing green and had Crager SS/T's. This was I believe a '77.
We had so much fun in that thing and I was driving my '66 Mustang.
Anyway, this should be in another post but now make me think of finding one for myself.
Nice to see how generous you guys are and a shame you got had like we did.

The threads where he talked about the car getting stolen and then the recovered are definitely gone. If removed recently, I'd bet Stefan can still see them.

I agree with Hawkco and Jamie about the threads about car being stolen and found in the bottom of gravel pit, I have not looked for them but they were on the here at one time as I was a big contributor to Project Phoenix and followed everything on it closely, including emailing Jim afterwards to find out what had been done to car after it changed hands. At anyrate is does not matter just wish things would not have turned out the way they have.

What has been done has been done and nothing can change that.

Says he has been true to THIS BOARD. I wonder if there is a police report on the stolen Maverick or does it really matter, like Hawko said DIRTY IS DIRTY and I agree .

I completely agree with Hawko. it sad to hear of someone on this board doing such a feat, even though it didnt actually happen here. but no matter where it happened, it happened, and that cant be changed. the idea of someone doing something like this at all is irritating, and when it happens to be a well known member then that just makes the whole community come together with their thoughts on the subject. it's not a question of what board it happened on, but rather the fact that it happened, period.

Trust is a big issue in the world today and luckily we have an outstanding group of individuals that come together as a family here on this forum, and with that being said i dont think there's room for people like this. im not the one to say for him to leave/banned or w/e, but i believe the trust is lost and that's something that is very hard to obtain once gone.

    the guy is a scammer.
some of my best freinds donated time, money, prayer and tools as well as a van to him.
They poured their souls out to him.
When he said he finally got a job and wouldnt be able to attend a van run, we all said its ok, we'll see you down the road.
there is nothing being sorted out at vannin.com, we want our stuff back and will get it.
then we found said van on craigslist and being traded on this site.
i bet most of ours and yours tools and parts are also for sale.
he said his wife was dead, van stolen and tools were in it.
he took on a forum of 2000 plus people, some of them lawyers and law enforcement, good luck to him

i bet a few more of the internet slueths will find out more
