i may go to hell for this but i've decided to scrap my 302 build for my maverick.

see i have a 75, that i was going to build a nice fi 5.0 for but now i got 71!! which did come with a 302 but im going to tear it out and install an ls2, 6.0 motor.

im wondering if any one else has tried this already and if so, how did it fair out?

    pics will come soon.

Seems like a lot of work, for what you're going to end up with. 302's are already 100% figured out.

Gonna spend a lot of money and headaches just to get whipped by somebody with a 347 stroker that just bolted his in. But whatever floats your boat. I wouldn't expect to get much support here though.

yea i kno, im not expecting it to b done any time soon. im not in any hurry.

and yes i kno no one will support a chevy motor in a ford, but i figure since i had the parts that i use them. already have a friend fabricating the mounts for it.

worse comes to worse, i rip it out n go back to my 302. consider it a learning experience.

I agree, I like the ls series of motors but you would never catch me putting one in a ford......... I was inches away from putting one in a fd rx-7 but guy backed out on selling me the car.

Anyways the wealth of your knowledge will probably come from the corral forum under mix breed platform section. Just carry that knowledge into the mav chasis.

And remember forget the haters its your money and your car. :tiphat:

You'll really feel the warmth if you don't keep us updated with some pics. Good luck with it. :)

I wouldnt spend my time on it but go for it. Whatever you want to try in this hobby is cool with me. An engine is an engine. Just takes a lot of extra work to go off brand like that. I dont get into the brand wars. A nice car is a nice car. dont matter who built it.

I got a 6.0 with ls3 heads just hanging out in my garage waiting to see what the future holds=) and it won't fit without shaved towers or swapping to a mustang ii susp. You just can't mmake the power out of a 302 as cheap as you can the ls based motors..

    thanks for the info!

i figure the fate of the towers would be that they are gone or shaved.
