O/T, did anyone else struggle getting their vehicle registered? The office here seemed clueless as how to handle the short VIN. Funny.

Can someone explain how this thread is coming up as new when the last post date was in Feb??? I occasionally see other threads with similar...

BTW my Comet is a KC build...

As a FYI I've seen local DSO(25) Mavericks built at both St Thomas and KC...

just ran across some insurance paper work for my brother's 74 Comet GT.

looks like its also from Kansas City.

can anyone tell me how to find out what the DSO is if i only have this:

    4K31F514431

    ive been able to decipher

    body: 32B
    color: 5W
    trim: LC
    trans: W
    axle: 3/6(?)
    DSO: (??)

    any help is appreciated

    Gabe

AFAIK there is no 32B body, period... Could be 62B as 62 is the usual Ford/Merc body code for a 2dr sdn...

A Ford 999 report(or whatever they are called these days) or a Marti report is the only way I know to get info about a car if you don't have orig door tag or paperwork...
