I have to agree, do not by anything unless you have multiple people that have used that product. Even Napa offers you a economy line that a cheap like the parts stores. I like to here from members that have put them to the test. I love Moog parts myself an have purchased from Auto Krafters.
The lower ones will improve castor. That's the main reason that many newer designs also incorporate slight rearward offsets too. Even the old Shelby drop often relocated the mounting points to the rear a bit.
You guys that most recently bought crappy parts from LM - do you remember what manufacturer was on the packaging? I just found my old packages from over 4 years ago (yes, I'm a packrat .... ) and have the name of the company in Mexico that made good ones that came in my kit. They have a web site and an office in Miami. Will post the name and a link to their catalog later - waiting to see if anyone with the new stuff has a name on their parts ...........
Yeah but when they are both off center in the same direction, makes for a "staggered" setup, after I rotated the shafts both favored rearward slightly... If I remember correctly one only need a half turn rotation while the other needed a full turn... Mine were in a generic box, there is a small stamp on the parts but I can't remember what it said, believe it was was something like three letters..
Does anyone have any experience with the Total Control Products, or Opentracker upper control arms. I know they are for the more serious restomod folks price wise.
Depending on what you are buying, Opentracker is almost the cost of Total Control, Global West is another option, all good products. Street or Track, is another option.
Here is a picture of the bag the lower was shipped in. Company is SIP which stands for Suspension International Parts, Corporation. A long time manufacturer in Mexico. They have a catalog with a few Maverick parts listed. They also have an office in Miami. http://sipcontrolarms.com/index.php?view=Nosotros
Uhhh Ohhh, I think SIP is what was on mine, apparently they've changed the design or are maybe "farming out" the mfgr of these arms to another company...
Or following demands of the customer to cut costs anyway they can ......... Too bad ........ cause what I received was very high quality, heavy steel, and everything fit like a glove. I'm glad both my cars have all new parts. Be a long time before I would need to find new ones again .......
I use the StreetorTrack uppers. I like them but they are pricey like any of the tubular replacement upgrades. Suspension height made my decision since my previous UCA's were stock with a ProMotorsports engineering wedge kit that required the USA made upper ball joint (McQuay/Norris) that had the grease fitting in the lower plate of the joint and they had to be drilled for 3/8" hardware. I found out the hard way that drilling a ball joint, even to just open the hole up a little is an exercise in futility. Not to mention, NAPA quit selling the McQuay/Norris joints and replaced them with a cheap china made knock off in the same box. (I bought 2 at the same time, one was the good one, one was the cheapy)
I found three more brands while searching online (I'm also shopping for lower control arms) at Parts Geek. The three brands are: "Replacement", "Parts Master" and "Mevotech". Has anyone used these brands?
Two people said Dorman are junk and one person said Moog and Laurel Mountain are junk and would trust Dorman more. It's hard to find what's actually good. Has anyone actually liked Dorman or any of the ones I mentioned in my last post??
I got the moog lowers and they seem great just like the oem ones.. Don't feel or look like garbage, got them for 75 a piece; some parts just ain't cheap here. not installed as of yet.
Then you have something different than what Moog is hawking now, current arm is very different from orig...
Oh really? Yours were not moog were they.. Cause you needed washers to space them..I'll probably have mine on within the next month and I'll see for sure how they "fit"
