Anyone using a 3/4" rear sway bar from the Maverick Connection? I am considering one for my Comet; it has no sway bar now. Does it improve handling enough to buy one. I believe it makes a difference--but to what degree? :thumbs2:

I have an Addco rear bar, definitely makes a difference. A strong crosswind will make the rear a little twitchy but you get used to it.

Is there any advantage to adding a rear bar without upgrading the front?

You can tweak the handling of the car by going with one or the other. Generally, you increase front grip when you stiffen the rear and vice versa.

Edit: Most of my racing includes turning so it may be different for straight line drag racing.

The addition of a rear sway bar to my Maverick was one of the biggest improvements I have made to the handling. I highly reccommend it.

I want to replace my bushing for the front bar and dont know the size. I put a wrench around it and the one that fits is a 3/4. Does this sound right for 75 2dr that came with a 250?

    RR Sway Bar

    Hi Lee,
Thanks for the info. What make/brand of bar do u have? Also, I want to replace my front springs. I have talk to a lot of folks on here who use 6cyl springs; some of them cut part or all of a coil off. My car is a 302 and Im wondering if they wud be to weak or soft w/ poor handling. I don't necessarily need to lower my car, so cutting a coil - probably not.
What wud ur thoughts be on that issue?

I have the 6 cylinder springs with a V8. I found that the offset of the front wheels will make difference in how it sits and feels. If the wheels are offset towards the outside it puts more leverage against the control arm/spring and makes the car sit lower. My front wheels are 15 x 6 with 4" backspace. Makes the car sit higher than when it was a 6 cylinder. You don't know how it's gonna sit until you try it.

    6 Cyl. springs

Hi Mac, Please to meet u.
Thanks for the info. I did'nt know the Grabbers came w/ 6cyl. I have 14" *7 Ford Rally wheels; don't really know if they came new on the car. I think they are 4 3/4 in BS. The sitting height is not my priorty; I just don't want the ride to be real soft or real stiff. I put some new 4 leafs from "General Spring" on the rear and they are a little stiff for my taste, but, "they're on now and not a lot of other choices. They will stay.
I like ur setup w/ the 5 sp. man. Sounds like u have a real performer. I don't see where u have any pix on the site. U running alum radiator? I kind of wish I had manual but not willing to make the changes and here in Chicago area lots of stop and go.

I run V8 springs at stock height which gives it basically stock ride height with my big Windsor. I can't go lower because of ground clearance issues with my headers. I believe my rear sway bar is an Addco although it came from J.C. Whitney many years ago.
