    Just want to put this out there. Has anyone had experience (good or bad) turning there .250 single barrel intake into a true two barrel? Want some feed back on machining, carburetor adapter set up, linkage, head internals (valves, rockers, lifters, cams), exaush setups, hood clearance.

    Kevin,
    Years ago, I put a Weber DGAV on a 250 with dual outlet headers. It made an improvement but for the time and money, it would have been better just to have put a 302 in. The six cylinder is not an efficient engine without putting a lot of money into it.

    As Craig asked, what are your goals?

    There have been others that have posted the same question. Several of them decided that the 302 was a better option.

    I never owned a 250, but the 300 six has a ton of torque useful from idle to 2500 rpm. It is a great motor up to 45 to 50 mph, after that it is just taking up space. A 302 will dominate a six in every category with the exception of economy and longevity. Unless you really just want to hear that six get feisty........there is an article somewhere about making one feisty.

    If you really want a 6,build a 240,the little brother of the 300.The 300 is to tall to fit under a Mav hood but I think you could squeeze a 240 in there.

    The car is a four door and I think the six is more appropriate. If I had a coupe I wouldn't think twice about a 302. I want a nice gurgle a some power. The DGAV was it the progressive? And did you still have the single inlet on the intake?

    They produced a '2v' head for the 250 in Australia. Which had a bolt on intake. It was common to see triple webers on them in the day as well. It made for a pretty quick '6' back in the day

    "Some" power is going to cost you a lot of money. One can get a nice gurgle and make the engine look nice pretty cheap. A turbo muffler or glass pack will make more noise. I personally don't care for the noise. :D

    What does the number of doors have to do with it?
    There's no such thing as a Maverick "coupe". They're all sedans. 2-door and 4-door.
