What do you think? http://innovativedrm.com/pics/maverickdash.png http://innovativedrm.com/pics/maverickdash1.png The top 'pad' would be from a 05 Mustang, I would then cut to fit, re-pop in sheet metal and upholster/pad. The dash 'face' would be brushed look with clear coat on it with the "maverick" logo water-jet cut into the dash, with some sort of LED light behind it?? Or keep stock logo idk yet.. Bottom would roll into the "package" tray where ignition would be and maybe tweeters made into Mustang vents that could rotate/swivel. Gauges would vary, and LCD radio monitor would be? (ill find out when I go to buy one). Any idea's or thoughts? Changes/suggestions? Ive been thinking of this/rough sketching it out for a few weeks but never could figure something out until I saw a mustang dash pad. kinda what I wanted.. anyways discuss.
looks good to me,I liked the dash in the 05 mustang when I had one.One thing to consider, which I"m sure you already have, the dash in the 05 mustang is I'd bet at least 2 to 3 times wider from the dash face to the windshield than a mav, will cutting it down interfere with anything that may go behind it, or the gauges since they recess back from the brow? in the end , it gets back to the old ,"it's your car, build it how you like " I'd say , if it goes with your overall plans and everything flows together for the style or theme your buiding then do it. and this applies for everything in my opinion- If your doing a modification just to change it for the sake of change, then dont. there has to be a continuity of flow with any design for it to be successful.
I like the idea, but I just built a console and stuck my gauges and media center in it. I did want to get the clock and stick it on top of my dash like a Mustang one.
I like it! I see nothing wrong w/ combining new tech w/ vintage/old cars. If nobody had this inclination: there wud'nt be much of an Aftermarket industry. People don't convert late model cars to disk brakes, bluetooth, stero/CD/DVD,etc., they already have them. I say - go for it and post lots more pix...
So I am going to go ahead and do the Mustang dash. I went to the local scrap yard and picked up a entire dash and cut it up a bit to get where I am at below. This is a rough cut to get it mocked up and figure out the depth that I need. I still need to get the doors into the car and check the distance between the window cranks and where the face of the dash will meet. Dont want to hit the dash, or smash my hands trying to roll the windows up/down.
