    Hey all,

I was doing some dream shopping the other day, and looked up SSBC's front drum to disc conversion kits. I was a little confused, as they list two different kits for a 1973 Maverick and a 1973 Comet. Both kits were for manual drum to disc. I thought the mavs and comets both shared the same front end parts around those years. Am I wrong?

    thanks

HOLY CRAP $1,000 for 2 front disk brakes???
I suggest you find a cheaper way... I know that everyone that has converted hasn't paid $1000.

But yes I thought they were the same too?

yeah... very $$$. hence the "dream" part. I was just seeing what was out there... but the different kits threw me a curve.

I bought a 74 Comet 4dr with manual disc brakes for $200. Then I swapped the brakes to my 73 Comet. The 4dr Comet now has drum all around. A lot cheaper than $1,000.

i am looking at the granada swap kit at CSRP. i have a donor, but after replacing all the parts except the spindles, my pricing is placing me very close to the kit price.

im probably going to get wilwood disk brakes later this month (parents want for saftey...and they are paying so thats good)...but it sure is pricey
i will probably get my mechanic to do it but hes asking 1200 or so for the installation and kit...but how hard is it to do it yourself...(never worked on brakes)

has anybody had wilwood disks? ...how are they?

My brother is installing a CSRP swap on a Falcon as I speak. He is very happy with the quality of the kit & service he received. The web site is http://discbrakeswap.com . Good Luck!

just be patient and watch ebay for spindles inless you can find some either in the parts wanted section on this site or a boneyard. all said and done, if you find spindles, your total price for the project including:
new rotors (not chinese. use bendix or raybestos)
    new calipers
    new hoses
    new pads
    new bearings
    new seals
    new tierod ends
new ball joints (since you are at it)
should come in around 400 bucks assuming you got the spindles for 100 bucks or less. kinda sucks becaise there are 3 or 4 granadas locally in yards but they want 100 for them.
