That's a great article, lots of information! Bearing sizes are listed there too. Dimensions for 57 Fairlane would be listed under the passenger car for 57-59.......

Any 9" from 57-59 Ford will fit our Mav/Comet. Back in the 80's when I had my 65 Mustang, this was an option to use over the hard to find OEM 9" that only came with the HiPo 289. I did not mention in post #4, as I figured not many of these 57-59 are around, let alone in good shape! They came with 28 splined axles too, can't remember the bearing sizes, but I believe they are the smaller sizes, like that of our Mav/Comet 8".

I think one would be better off purchasing a new housing from "Quick Performance" over something that is over 55 years old.......IMO

ford71, do a search and you should find quite a few posts regarding the Lincoln rear.

That is what I have in mine - I am mainly using the short housing and the 28 spline axles - the anemic geared center section that comes in the Versailles was replaced with a 3.90 geared N Case center section with a traction lock and a set of Speedway disc brakes :)

I've used Quick Performance for years, since before they had magazine advertising! I've had Doug and the boys do a lot of rearend work thru the years. He will do them any way you want them, any spline, any width.

Here's the QP custom made 9" under mine. 55.5" wide, centered pinion, 31 spline Moser axles, 4.5 and 4.75 bolt patterns, screw-in studs, 1/4" moly axle tubes, billet big bearing ends. I had the spring pads left off so I could put pinion angle where I wanted it.
