I cant tell you how many times Ive been there. old cars can be horrible at times my motor blew up right in front of my house in my comet then another time it wouldnt start from the carb being flooded then the lights got left on and killed the battery my starer just decided one day it wasnt going to work at all and this is all after replacing everything with new parts if its four lug that kills the value in my opinion $2500 is a VERY GENEROUS OFFER I wouldnt go that high I bought my 72 comet gt v8 5 lug with disc brakes already upgraded for $1975 with some american racing wheels PASS is my suggestion mainly because he wants TOO MUCH
What people seem to forget, is "East Coast" prices are no where near as low as "West Coast" prices...around here, it's rare to see a 1987 anything on the road.
that is to generous imo. Honestly its a 2k car if the top is not rusty at best. I have saw mint cars with a vinyl top and you could punch a hole through the roof
Cars are designed, built and meant to be driven. If it's mechanically sound, drive the hell out of it. Been daily driving a Maverick for 9 years and have zero regrets. No, they don't have all the creature comforts and safety features of a new car. After all, it's not a new car. Accept it, or go hop in your comfy late model appliance with you tail between you legs. That said, I think the price is steep on that car unless the body is REALLY straight/rust free.. newish paint jobs on a car like that make me leery. 2500 or so sounds more reasonable.
I have to agree with Jamie- 12 years ago i got divorced and needed a car- $1,600 for my 71 was the best option 48,000 miles on it- at the time you couldnt buy a old Probe for that money much less close to as unique as a daily driver as the mav plus i could mcgyver it to get home if god forbid i had to & parts are cheap-plus on top of that 2 things Wellsdj said his Dad's a mechanic, so i'm sure he's well aware of the possible pitfalls and #2 what did people do in 1971 when it snowed??? Same thing we do today
