okay this isnt the usual what size tire should I or could I use....
since Im getting new tires for my comet gt I got to wondering what size and brand everyone else is using

I want to use the same size tires I have now but I want cooper cobras with the white letters out
my rears are 255/60/15 and my fronts are 195/60/15
the reason Im running that size is just because thats what was already on the car when I bought it and because I think they look cool

I think you are finding that those tires are hard to find....as in.....they don't make 14" and 15" tires anymore like they used to.

I also run 255/60/15 Cooper Cobras (white letters turned in) on the back of my Grabber. They are good looking tires for the money. I got mine from Discount Tire Direct.

My Mav had 295/50R15 on the back when I got it but the rearend was too wide.

I went to 29x12.50x15 on 11" wide wheels with a custom rearend, no tubs, no spring moves.

I think the 275 or 295 would work with the right offset wheel but it would be close.

I am running 265/50/15s Cooper Cobras on Wheel Vintique 15x8 (or 8.5) Magnums on the back. Stock rear axle makes them a bit snug inboard and there still is plenty of room outboard. I added a 1/4" spacer because on a sloped entry to a parking lot, etc., they rub on the inner front area of the wheel tub, as the car leans. They are great otherwise. These wheels are close to the same offset as a factory 15x7 Magnum wheel (might be a 1/4" different). With a bit more outboard spacing (or a Granada rear axle) they would be a really good fit with no worries of ever rubbing.

On the front, I am running tires that are too short, 195/60/15, and will be looking for something that fills the wheelwell better. Might have to slice the coils a bit more, because the stance is really good.
