I found a 85 gt 4 barrel intake for 70.00bucks was the gt intake about the same as a edelbrock performer?i know it has 4 holes instead of the split plenum.i have plans to put a stock 97 explorer 5.0 in my 58 f-100 and need a carb set-up for the engine.would this intake work ok with the gt40p heads and a 600 carb, the engine will be stock

Not quite a steal at that price.. or as good as the Performer(has slightly more volume and smoother turns) but close enough for a stock cam, I guess. And it's still a dual plane despite the 4 hole design.

I would block the heat crossover and run another 1 inch heat isolating 4 hole spacer to liven it up a bit more too. Especially with all that room under the trucks hood-line. That extra room also allows you to forego the drop base air cleaners too. Every little bit helps.

And yeah.. p heads only differ in the spark plug location and combustion chamber design which obviously doesn't affect the intake side of things.

PS.. even on a stock motor.. I'd nip those P heads around .020-.030 to bump compression a bit. Helps them run better all around and you can still easily tune for regular.

Don't waste yor time or money on the Mustang intake. I ran a Weiand (8011?) on the 289 in my '57. You will have a ton of room under the hood. They 600 works well on those engines.

Man I love the 57s for that frontend, not real crazy about the 58-60s. I have a friend that has one of those big back glass cab sections and glass for sale if you know anyone.

You're right. I assumed he already had the intake when I read the word "found". I would UN-find it ASAP. Ward's intake is priced right and will be better overall. I'd still block the crossover though.

Well do you have one for sale now? Maybe you stupidly sold yours too cheap and you are having sellers remorse now? Do you not have some sense of etiquette? Philip is a friend and I would not try to take him and in fact if you speak to anyone I have dealt with you will find a favorable outlook. I treat people the way I would want to be treated.

I in no way meant to insult anyone on here. I felt that $70 for a stock intake was high. I took the intake off a scrap truck so I made money on it. I am one of those people who would do good to sell a $20 bill for $10 lol. I obviously came off wrong so I apologize for that:Handshake

I'm pretty quick to forgive/forget. I apologize for coming across so harsh, and I tried to take down what I said but the edit button is gone, but I will as soon as I can. :Handshake
