It was suggested that I start a new build thread for the maverick I bought off Franktf a year ago.

picked these AJE shortened FOX body struts off ebay for $150. They use VW inserts with 6" travel

New one piece frontend from Suncoast Race Cars ...Im really loving the spoiler he added. This frontend adds a few extra inches to the wheelbase too.

I can see the extra wheel base being represented in the extra glass behind the front wheel openings - problem with these is you need 2 guys to tilt it - both have to pull out on the lower fender to clear the doors during it's arc - nice piece though :)

Are you going to stretch the wheel base or cut that extra fiberglass back some?

Not if you went with something similar to the 50-60's chevy pickup trucks where the front nose pulls, then lifts up. I was looking at it at a guys house. Its a adaptable setup...

I have, in fact, seen such a setup on a one piece 56 Ford pickup nose at a car show last year - brackets on hood use rollers to move forward before dropping into a notch that lets it tilt forward - I asked the owner if he built it and he told me that it was aftermarket - maybe do a search on such brackets and they may be adaptable to the Maverick one piece :)

The wheelbase will be extended. I thought about bringing it closer to stock but I like the look.

I wasnt planning on making it tilt but I guess if I was... I could either cut the lower portion of the fender below the body line and that could make it clear or make the frontend slide forward first before the tilt happens. Right now tilt or no tilt is undecided.

My nose is made up of all original steel Maverick parts and will tilt when finished - I just have to create some sort of a light weight inner frame to hook up brackets to it - I found that the only point where you could split the fenders and the entire tilt nose would then clear the entire door would be right at the body line - that is if it didn't roll forward first :)
