I LOVE YOUR CAR I HAD A 71 LIME GREEN GRABBER ,IT HAD THE FACTORY GREEN REFLECTIVE STRIPES BUT WE REPAINTED IT AND USED BLACK STRIPES IT ALSO HAD A VINYL TOP ,MY FAVORITE COLOR ON THESE MAVERICKS
I have some pictures somewhere I will have to look for them,i was wondering what size slicks do u run and what size rim and backspace rear wheels u have.also what kind of engine combo do u have, stall as well and do u like the 3.40 gears?reason ask this is my current 72 grabber has 4.11 gears with 2500 stall and a blueracer 292-512 lift cam and I was thinking about removing the 4.11s for 3.55 or 3.40 so I can drive it more
The Mickey Thompsons I had on the car are 26x10.5x15. The rear wheels are 15x7 Weld Rodlites with 4.5" backspacing. My regular 'street' rear wheels are 15x8 Weld Rodlites with 4.5" backspacing and 255/60/15 radials. My car has a late 80's model Mustang 302 roller motor with iron GT40 heads. It has a small cam (I think it may be an E303), Edelbrock Torker intake and a 600 Holley vacuum secondary carb. It has long tube headers with 3" dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. The car has a C4 trans with a shift kit and a stock stall converter. I like the 3.40 gears! With the 27" tall rear street tires that I run the car turns about 2,500 RPM's at 60 MPH which makes it not too bad to run on the highway. My car had 4.62's in it when I bought it and it was just too much gear to try and run on the highway very much. I tried to find some 3.55's, but wasn't able to and 'settled' for the 3.40's. BTW, see if you can find those pictures!
i will look this weekend for the pictures,my car had the torker II intake ,thought about replacing it with a performer rpm that I have .what do ya think is it worth it or should I keep the singleplane, also thanks for the info on ur car
With the 3.40 gears and the stock stall the single plane Torker intake leaves alot to be desired under 2,500-3,000 RPM's, after that it does decent. I think it does better on your combo with the stall and lower rear gears. If you switch to 3.40 or 3.55 gears the dual plane might be a better choice.
