I like the bumper tucks on 73's, You just have to pay attention on how far you do push it back so the the side returns do not start to cover the maker lights at the front. His looks good from the angle he took the photograph. (y)
My/My son's 73 Grabber had the bumper tuck done. It was done that way when I bought it back in 2002. They just cut the brace, slid it back and welded it to the frame. The side return on the bumper came right to the edge of the side marker light.
I guess another way you could do it is cut the bracket some and slide it back then redrill new mounting holes in the frame if you wanted to do it that way. All I know is it sucked cutting the old braces off ours that where welded to the frame with out damaging the frame rails. We are doing a small bumper conversion on it this time.

I don't know, that car was 33 years old and had never been apart since it was new, we could ask the original owner, but she died, so I guess we'll never know... . It's straight now.

Might as well bump this because it's a good thread. Are there any threads on how to perform the tuck? I will keep searching.

It looks good as long as you don't go more than 2 inches. 'Might not sound like a lot, but a 2 inch tuck is very noticeable.

I agree in that a small tuck can be good on 73s, and for that matter 74-77, but it is possible to go a bit too far.

What does strike me about the later cars is that they seem to be able to look really good with bigger tires on all four corners ... just overall they have a chunkier look to them. A minor bumper tuck and meaty tires tend to give them a look that the earlier cars can't copy well.

As much as I don't care for the big bumpers, I think your observation is right on the money.

I would like to see a bumper tuck on a '73 Comet.
I might be so inclined depending on the way it looked with the different grill.

I posted a few pics of this car last year. It belongs to a friend of mine (some people here know him).
I figured I'd post it here in this thread. It has a 2-inch tuck.

That's mine. I still have it. It's on here in the "For Sale" section.
