Has anyone had any dealings Creb Engineering? These guys are selling a 306 long block on ebay that produces 440 HP at 5800 RMP and peak torque at 4500. The cam is power brake friendly and the compression ratio is 9.5 to 1 .Seems to good to be true. Any thoughts about this?
    Thanks, Joe

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
With the newer cam tech it is possible to have enough vacuum to run PB on a wild(ish) unit, everything else seems feasible.

    Whats their asking price?

I'm impressed that they use good aluminum heads rather than the cheap off shore crap. I am a little suspect that they give horsepower numbers for a short block, it might just be the way they word it though, "makes 440 horsepower" should probably read "capable of handling....". Can you imagine the disappointment of some uninitiated hot rodder that slaps his stock top end on one to find all he picked up is the lost horsepower that a gazillion miles took away?

The ad reads that he uses TSF twisted wedge heads . I asked him if he used parts from China and his reply was no. It's hard to trust people now days and his shop is well over a thousand miles from me.

I saw the heads an was shocked considering it isn't the norm with most ebay sellers anymore. We had a local "high performance" shop that advertised high powered engines with aluminum heads and what not. In the end you would get Proform heads for the price of Bodix, a no name cam of questionable origins and OEM style cast pistons. He made a killing on the uninitiated and is probably still at it.

I wasn't aware there are heads made off shore. What brands are they?

Proform and Patriot are the two brands that stick in my head. They work and are a decent price but they do not perform as well as the name brand pieces. My understanding (second hand information!) is you will end up spending as much buying and porting etc... to get the same flow numbers and is you bought one of the name brands to start with. Again, I have no real world experience other than seeing a set, which looked cheap compared to the high dollar stuff and what I have read.

I am very skeptical of those hp numbers.

There's a lot of horror stories about ProComp heads. Rocker studs at wrong angles, valve seats falling out, holes not drilled where they should be, cheap valve train parts. Friend of mine bought a used 347 that came with ProComp heads, the ports don't line up with the Edelbrock intake manifold he has on it..

My brother bought a performance 302 on line with Pro Comp heads and distributor and like other projects the engine set for awhile before he installed it in his Maverick. To make along story short the distributor didn't work and both heads had to be removed because they weren't flat and leaked coolant. Creb's engine sounds to good to be true and probably is.

lol.. when 440 naturally aspirated horsepower come from 302 cubic inches?.. it sure don't happen at 5,800 rpm.

Run away quickly and spend you cash at a reputable shop which will be there to back up their product.
